  Ironsave   Corrosion Inhibitor

Acid pickling is for the removal of oxides from the surface of steel materials, it is a fundamental stage in the hot dip galvanising process.
In most plants it is performed by dipping the steel pieces in an acid solution with hydrochloric acid (HCl). In such a solution the acid attacks both the oxides and any exposed metal surface.
To avoid this phenomena, corrosion inhibiting substances are used which allows surface oxides to be removed without attack on the steel surface.

IRONSAVE® is a corrosion inhibitor specifically formulated for the hot dip galvanising process.

The advantage of using IRONSAVE®

- It reduces acid consumption
- It allows for a proper protection of the metal in different kinds of steel
- It produces smoother surfaces after the pickling stage so avoiding "hidden" absorptions during the galvanising stage
- It reduces the effect of hydrogen embrittlement
- Together with ANTIVAPOR®, it allows for an improved working environment
- It guarantees the protection of the materials immersed in the pickling even during week-ends

Preparation of a pickling bath with IRONSAVE®

1. Verify the volume of the bath
2. Introduce the necessary quantity of mains water, not recovery water, to reach the desired final concentration
3. Add IRONSAVE® following the instructions on the dosage calculator
4. Pour the acid in the bath until it reaches its full measure, pouring it under the surface of the water
5. Perform a light agitation to homogenize the solutions
6. Start the pickling

So as to avoid any risk in the plants we recommend to always use fresh acid, of guaranteed origin, and always accompanied by certified analysis.

Management of the bath

When adding fresh acid, add IRONSAVE® according to the instructions shown on the dosage calculator.
